Thank you for visiting our adventure; I am here to tell you about a tale, the resurrection of the USS New Mexico (BB-40). This short film (20 minutes) brings to life, vivid memories of Radio Man Second Class (RM2c) Nathaniel DeMoss a veteran who served honorably during WWII. Filmed entirely in New Mexico, we hope with a small contribution we will see the remarkable Queen rise into the hearts of World War II enthusiast and cinephiles.
Our hero envisions the stricken vessel rise from the Rio Grande, during Nathaniel's last days he reflects on his comrades that have transitioned. We meet Nathaniel in Santa Fe, New Mexico, blessed to make it to 90. A blend of real actors, real locations and VFX wizardry. Help us soar by giving Nathaniel and the USS New Mexico BB-40 the honor they both deserve.
The names in this picture have been changed but we strive to merge accurate events and timelines as a backdrop. Centered on creativity and respect for the American men and women who served during these perilous times.

Those faint smiles from Jackie, Marvin, and Edward even though we held different rank didn’t matter, its war. I was Radioman 2nd Class Nathaniel DeMoss responsible with keeping our men safe. She was the USS New Mexico BB-40 also known as the Queen, laid down after WWI and launched in a quite ceremony in Brooklyn, christened with holy water from the Rio Grande. SANTA FE, September 12, 2024 – Stricken the Resurrection of the USS New Mexico BB-40 short film is from award-winning director Robertson Tirado. With a background in film studies at New York University, Tirado was honored that Manhattanese took home best animated film at the Tucumcari Film Festival (2024). Robertson Tirado was intrigued with his first encounter with the USS New Mexico BB-40 brass bell located outdoors nestled in the heart of New Mexico University. A second one here in Santa Fe at the New Mexico History Museum.
The USS New Mexico laid down at the end of WWI launched from the Brooklyn Navy Yard and christened with water from the Rio Grande. They called her the Queen and after two failed kamikaze attacks during WWII to bring her down into the Pacific her title is fitting. Robertson Tirado was born in New York City and during his life he walked in the shadows of the Brooklyn Navy Yard where the knocking of steel still echoes a century later. His passion for mixing history with fiction was evident in his acclaimed film The Lost Interview of Carlina La Salle, shot entirely in Brooklyn where we meet German actress Carlina La Salle. Carlina La Salle comes to New York City during cinema’s transition from the silent era to what was characterized as “talkies.” The Lost Interview of Carlina La Salle was honored with the Official Selection Florence Film Awards, New Filmmakers New York and a presentation at the Queens Public Library at Flushing.
Today, Stricken the Resurrection of the USS New Mexico BB-40 short film is in the process of creating the USS New Mexico using VFX wizardry used in Tirado short film The Show. In The Show a singing gas station pump along with baby bots sings their hearts out. Robertson Tirado believes in combining VFX with real human emotions and shuns away from shortcuts in the age of Artificial Intelligence. Our new short film will center on vivid memories from Radio Man Second Class (RM2c) Nathaniel DeMoss a veteran who served honorably during WWII. Filmed entirely in New Mexico, we hope with a small contribution we will see the remarkable Queen rise into the hearts of World War II enthusiast and cinephiles.
